An elder statesman in Ghana, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe in an interview has narrated how the colonial masters were chased out of the country’s choicest part of Ghana after independence in 1957.

The founding member of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NNP, recounted how Ghana would have had apartheid issues just like South Africa if not for the help of mosquito bites.

He said the British colonial master had created a residential area which had a police station, post office, and bus system amongst others at some parts meant for the white and a native Ghanaian was restricted from such parts of the country.

According to Nyaho-Tamakloe those whites that stayed back after Ghana’s independence at the Ridge which was more like the European quarters, were chased out after the majority of them died from mosquito bites.

He said unlike how they settled in Kenya which has relatively fair weather, it was so obvious that the plan the colonial masters had for South Africa was the same with Ghana but the mosquitos were the saviour of the country.
