Man Allegedly Poisoned Wife Through 6-Year-Old Son

A 43-year-old man residing in Sapele LGA is on the run with his mistress for allegedly killing his 29-year-old wife, to whom he has been married for nine years.
The man, simply identified as Mr. Gideon, has been physically and emotionally abusing the deceased, but she refused to move out, hoping for a change.
The recent incident that led to the death of Gideon’s wife on July 6, 2025, occurred after the man brought his girlfriend to their matrimonial home. A quarrel ensued between the couple, and the man angrily left with his mistress after staying for days in the same house.
On Sunday, the deceased started crying of a stomach ache immediately after eating her food and was rushed to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead from poisoning.
Upon interrogation, the little 6-year-old son told the doctor that his dad and mistress came to his school, gave him something to add to his mother’s food in order for the parents to stop fighting and for the father to return home, but with strict instructions not to tell anyone.
According to the child, after his mother finished preparing food that Sunday, he dropped the contents in her tea and later brought out the remaining contents of the bottle, which was confirmed to be poison.
