American rapper, Lil Uzi Vert (aka Symere Woods) has pleaded no contest to a 2021 assault case and has been sentenced to three years of probation.

In July 2021, Uzi’s ex-girlfriend Brittany Byrd filed a police report alleging that the Philly native struck her and threatened her with a gun. Byrd and artist SAINt JHN were at Dialog Cafe in West Hollywood for a business meeting when Uzi exited confronted them.

Things reportedly turned physical, as Uzi jumped out his Escalade then threw a punch, missed JHN, and had his gun fall on the ground. Brittany subsequently approached him from the table, at which point Uzi allegedly put the gun against her stomach and struck her. Byrd also claimed that Uzi had flashed the handle of his gun at her. Byrd’s manager later told The Shade Room that JHN was not involved.

TMZ on Sunday (February 5), reported that Woods appeared in court to strike a plea deal with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. By pleading no contest to “one count each of felony assault with a firearm and misdemeanour injury to a girlfriend”, Woods accepted his conviction, but denied admission of guilt.

In addition to his three-year probationary period, Woods must commit to one year of treatment for mental health and substance abuse and 52 weeks of domestic violence counselling. He’s also been ordered to pay his accuser (ex-girlfriend Brittany Byrd) restitution, and is subject to a 10-year criminal protective order.
