Lagos Island Fire: Seven Hospitalized

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that seven persons were severely burned during the fire disaster that occurred on December 24th in Lagos Island.

The outbreak began at the 22-storey Great Nigeria Insurance House on Martins Street at about 5 PM on Christmas Eve, spreading to various buildings.

Confirming the number of casualties on Christmas Day, spokesperson of LASEMA, Nosa Okunbor, revealed that the fire originated from the fourth floor of the building before rapidly spreading to other levels.

Okunbor said that although the fire had been brought under control, seven adult males have been hospitalized, while five other individuals who suffered from smoke inhalation were treated on-site by emergency responders.
