Lady Hospitalized After Shot By Happy Trigger Police In Abraka

Apprehension grew amongst residents of the Oria-Abraka community on Saturday after some happy-triggered policemen allegedly shot a lady in front of the community school and fled the scene.

The victim identified as Rukevwe John, presently battling for survival at an undisclosed hospital was shot inside her boyfriend’s car just in front of Oria-Abraka secondary school.

On Sunday non-governmental organization, Initiative for Social Rights Concerns and Advancements, ISRCA, called on the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Surajudeen Olufemi Abaniwonda, to investigate the incident at the Oria junction and punishment melted on the police officers found wanting.

Recounting the ordeal of the incident, Precious boyfriend to Rukevwe revealed that he was taking the U-turn while driving when his car was hit behind and asked to step down from the car by men of the Abraka police division.

Precious however frowned at the policemen’s approach, entered his car and zoomed off but suddenly heard a gunshot that hit the car from behind and went straight to his girlfriend.

Comrade Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen, ISRCA National Coordinator, said in a statement that he had earlier reached out to the Abraka DPO, SP Fabian Ayameh and the PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe.
