Malam Tukur Mamu, an aide to Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, revealed the terrorist group behind the attack on Kuje prison in Abuja on Tuesday night.

Mamu, who is leading a negotiation team for the release of the kidnapped Abuja-Kaduna Train passengers, said the group which, launched the March 28 attack on the Kaduna-bound train, was responsible for the attack on Kuje prison.

He said the terrorist group had hinted at the attack on the custodial facility and others.

Mamu, a publisher of Desert Herald newspapers based in Kaduna and Dan Iya of Fika Emirate of Yobe State, noted that he subsequently passed the information to Nigeria’s security agencies but they didn’t act.

Leadership reports that after the Ansaru terrorists had released the managing director of the Bank of Agriculture (BoA) and a pregnant passenger of the train, Mamu led negotiations for the release of the third batch of the kidnap victims comprising 11 passengers a few weeks ago.

Since then, he has consistently raised the alarm on the deplorable condition of the remaining hostages, calling on the Federal Government to act fast by listening to the terrorists to save the lives of the innocent Nigerians in captivity.

Reacting to the attack on the Kuje Prison on Wednesday, Mamu in a statement published by Leadership said he was quitting the voluntary assignment of negotiation with the terrorists over the government’s insincere attitude.

He also said his own life was in danger, adding that if anything untoward happens to him, the terrorists should not be blamed but the corrupt system.
