Kidnappers Caught Will Be Sentenced to Death — Lawmakers

Following the attacks, killings, and kidnappings in various parts of the nation, the Nigerian Senate has taken a firm stand that kidnapping is now an act of terrorism, and any offender caught will be sentenced to death without an option of fine or judicial intervention to reduce sentences.

During the plenary on Wednesday, various deliberations were raised, including directing the Senate joint committee on security to investigate the sudden withdrawal of military personnel from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, shortly before bandits launched an attack.

The resolution followed hours of tense debate after Senator Yisa Ashiru from Kwara South led the motion about the escalating insecurity in worship centers and local communities.
