Keke Riders Lament Heavy Levies in Warri

Post created on 4:06 pm

‎Too much lamentation by tricycle riders in Warri and Edjeba can be heard like a resounding echo from a waterfall as they urge the Delta State government to come to their aid, putting an end to the burden of daily levies weighing them down.

‎The Keke riders on Thursday were lamenting how VIOs, Okowa police, and DESTMA keep harassing them over aprons and baskets that they have openly rejected, not to mention the daily N300 levies they pay and other multiple levies.

‎Ticketing, intimidation by security agencies, and skyrocketing tricycle prices are also some of the factors the riders listed as affecting their transportation businesses and livelihoods.

Acknowledging the fact that the daily N300 levies make them free from harassment from touts, the total collection for a year is far too much for a Keke rider under the present economy.

‎No response has been received from the Delta State Ministry of Transport and tricycle union officials.
