The State Governor of Kebbi State, Mohammed Nasir Idris, has expressed his disappointment and outrage towards security agencies after students at the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area were kidnapped despite warnings from the Department of State Services (DSS).
Expressing his disappointment on Monday night at the school premises after 25 female students were kidnapped and the vice principal killed by suspected gunmen in the early hours of Monday, Governor Nasir Idris accused security agencies of undermining credible information from the DSS.
A teacher who escaped the attack disclosed that he was shocked by the incident, as several armed personnel had been deployed on Sunday, interacting with students and teachers and conducting emergency drills.
Noting that the heavily armed security personnel spent the entire night guarding the school, sadly, for yet-to-be-determined reasons, they reportedly left the school before dawn. About 30 minutes after they withdrew, the kidnappers struck, abducting the students.
