Jailbreak in Nasarawa Prison: NCoS Searches for Inmates

Authorities have alerted Nigerians to be vigilant and remain calm, reporting any suspicious movements to the closest security post as sixteen inmates escaped from prison.

The jailbreak occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Keffi, Nasarawa State, as the inmates overpowered personnel on the ground.

According to a statement by the spokesperson for the Nigerian Correctional Service, Umar Abubakar, five of the officers were injured in the incident, with two currently in serious condition and receiving treatment at a government hospital.

It states that seven of the inmates have been recaptured, while a search is on to locate and apprehend the remaining nine.
