Islamic Cleric Replies to Critics: I Have No Regret Supporting Muslim-Muslim

Post created on 4:54 pm

The banter of words over the statement of Islamic cleric and leader of the Izala Scholars Council, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, intensifies, with some publicly standing with him and others totally in disagreement. However, the cleric has stood firm on his Muslim-Muslim ticket comments and description of Christians as “infidels,” with no regrets.

It was recalled that Jingir had spoken heatedly about Christians and urged Northerners to support the Muslim-Muslim ticket during a mass wedding in Kano. Speaking in an interview with the BBC, Jingir said he had no regrets over his recent declaration of support for a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket because he was not even campaigning for President Bola Tinubu, but fulfilling a responsibility he must uphold as a Muslim.

“I have no regrets. I will continue to support and encourage the Muslim-Muslim ticket. What they say will not stop me. They started it; at a point, we suffered in their hands,” Jingir said.
