Concerns have been raised by residents of Patigi and parts of Edu LGA in Kwara State as the constant helicopter sounds at night, landing in the deep forest, have kept them awake, with fears of the unknown.
According to a local vigilante leader, Mohammed Bana, some of the settlers around Patigi and Edu believe that the constant movement of these helicopters is delivering arms and other supplies to kidnappers around the region.
Speaking on the incident, a former member of the Kwara State House of Assembly from Edu LGA confirms that it is not just hearsay because leaders and stakeholders of the community are greatly disturbed.
However, clarifying the claims of the community, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, said the helicopter movements noticed by residents are only for surveillance purposes around that region, and tangible results will be seen within one to two weeks.
