Gbagbo Plans To Return As Cote d’Ivoire President

Former president of Cote d’Ivoire, Thousands of people turned out Saturday to see Ivory Coast’s former president Laurent Gbagbo gather lots of supporters as he announces his intentions to run for Presidency.

The 78-year-old is ineligible to run for presidency following his 20 years sentence in jail for looting the Central Bank of West Africa in 2011 but was surrounded by supporters from across the country bidding him to take over the nation’s affairs.

Gbagbo a president from 2000 to 2011 maintained his innocence of the crime that left over 3,000 persons dead, while his case was acquitted by the international criminal court and was also pardoned by President Alassane Ouattara a year later.

In his two-hour speech, the former president cried over the high cost of living for the citizens and would in time show documents to prove his side of the truth.
