Fuel Scarcity Looms in Nigeria as IPMAN Threatens Government

The Government of Nigeria has been given a 7-day ultimatum by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) to pay an outstanding bill of over one hundred billion naira or face the consequences of their actions.
IPMAN, through the Chairman of the IPMAN Depot Chairmen Forum, Yahaya Alhasan, lamented how they have been neglected by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) despite promises made. If the promise is not fulfilled, there will be a shortage of petroleum products nationwide.
Forty days ago, the government made promises in the presence of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, but until this very moment, nothing has been done. Depots in the North, including those in Jos, Gusau, Minna, Suleja, Kaduna, Kano, Gombe, Yola, and Maiduguri, have not been operational because of the long-overdue debt.
In Alhasan’s words, ditching out his warning, he said, “If NMDPRA doesn’t pay our money within seven days, we are going to withdraw our services across the nation.”
