Chief Frank Ovie Kokori former general secretary of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, is dead.

Kokori died today at age 80 in a hospital in Warri where he was undergoing kidney treatment.

The information was confirmed by one of his media aides, that he died in the early hours of today, Thursday.

“He passed on this night. I would want the family to break the news formally to the media.

“I am his aide but at this moment I am not to speak on this until the family issues a statement,” he said.

It was gathered that the health of the ex-secretary got worse on Monday and was placed on life support.

The labour leader had in November made an appeal call over his health and how he has been fueling the hospital-generating set to keep him alive.

Kokori had lamented how he had been abandoned by NUPENG despite his role in building the country’s democracy.
