Former Ghana president Jerry Rawlings is dead

Former Ghanaian President, Jerry Rawlings has died of coronavirus-related complications at the age of 73, according to reports from Ghanaian media.

The development comes less than a month after he buried his mother.

Born on June 22, 1947,Rawlings was a military leader who ruled Ghana from 1981 to 2001.He led a military junta from 1981 to 1992, resigned from the military in 1992 and then served as the elected President. He was then re-elected in 1996. Rawlings founded the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
