There was a fire outbreak in the Makurdi, the Benue State Capital, branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in the early hours of Thursday.
The fire started at about 7 am but the intervention of the men of the Fire Service saved further spread to the entire building.
Sources at the bank said the fire started from the fuel dome of the building but did not affect other sections, blaming the cause on a technical fault.
The incident, however, caused a stir in the bank located at the Old GRA opposite the United Bank of Africa (UBA) in Makurdi.
But, at the time of this report, calmness had been restored as people within and outside the premises were seen going about their normal businesses.
