The criminal petition filed against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi State has been withdrawn by the federal government.
The filing was made on behalf of Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, and was honored by the court as it clearly states that the case be discontinued.
It was signed by M.B. Abubakar, the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, and Aderonke Imana, the Assistant Chief State Counsel, following the statement by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Thursday, January 1, that his lawyer should withdraw all court cases of defamation made against him by any individual.
It is recalled that in December 2025, Akpabio had filed a N200 billion defamation suit at the Federal Capital Territory High Court against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan over allegations of sexual harassment.
