In order to communicate with the United States government on the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, the federal government has hired a lobbying firm with a contract payment of $9 million.
A document showing the contract of the lobbying firm was filed with the US Department of Justice. Aster Legal, a law firm in Kaduna state, was hired by DCI Group (a US-based public affairs and lobbying firm) on behalf of Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser.
The contract is expected to last for six months until June 30, 2026, and would be automatically renewed for another six months according to the agreement signed by Oyetunji Olalekan Teslim, the managing partner of Aster Legal, and Justin Peterson, managing member of DCI Group, on December 17, 2025.
The details state that the lobbying firm is primarily to assist the Nigerian government through Aster Legal in communicating its actions to protect Nigerian Christian communities and maintain U.S. support in countering West African jihadist groups and other destabilizing elements.
