FG Agrees To Increase Minimum Wage From N60K

The Federal government has agreed to increase the minimum wage pegged at N60,000 to a more appealing amount.

Without disclosing the exact amount to be paid, the tripartite committee disclosed in a statement that a meeting would be held every day for the next one week to arrive at a suitable new minimum wage.

This conclusion was made late Monday during a meeting between the Nigeria Labour Congress and, the Trade Union Congress at the office of the Secretary General of the Federation.

In agreement with increasing the new minimum wage on behalf of the Federal Government are the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, and Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha the Minister of State for Labour and Employment.

The statement also made it clear that no worker would be victimized because of the industrial action.
