FCT Workers Ordered to End Strike, NIC

Post created on 2:12 pm

Workers under the Joint Union Action Committee have been compelled by the National Industrial Court to suspend their ongoing strike following an injunction filed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

The judgment delivered by Justice E.D. Subilimon on Tuesday ordered that the Chairman of the Joint Union Action Committee, Rifkatu Iortyer, its Secretary, Abdullahi Umar Saleh, and other agents cannot embark on a strike, even though the trade dispute has met the required legal conditions.

The court therefore ruled that workers were prohibited from participating in a strike once a dispute had been referred to the National Industrial Court, adding that where such a strike was already ongoing, it must cease pending the determination of the case.
