EFCC Confirms Ifeanyi Okowa, Former Delta State Governor’s Arrest

Former Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over mismanagement and diversion of funds meant for the state.

Okowa was arrested over N1.3 trillion, which was a 13 percent derivation fund from the federation from 2015-2023 meant for oil-producing states.

Okowa was alleged to have used his office as governor to loot and acquire assets with the funds before being arrested on Monday.

Confirming Okowa’s arrest, the Spokesperson of the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, revealed that he was detained at the Port Harcourt office.
