Delta State Sets Motion in Place to Combat Crime

Post created on 10:02 am

‎With the high rate of insecurity growing in Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has issued a stern warning to all LGA chairmen that monthly security council meetings are compulsory and non-negotiable.

‎On Thursday in Asaba, during a stakeholders’ meeting, the Governor announced a new modern technology that will help the state tackle crime and expressed his displeasure towards some council chairmen neglecting their role in fighting insecurity at the grassroots level.

‎The meeting, which is basically to assess the level of crime and how responses are given, now stands to carry disciplinary action against any chairman that fails to meet the requirements, including possible suspension.

‎Governor Oborevwori cited the recent kidnapping, cult clashes, and killings, as well as drug abuse, which are the very reasons for tighter security measures, with advanced surveillance systems, crime mapping tools, and data-driven intelligence that will help enhance the system in the state.
