Delta State: Pandemonium in oleh transport park

There was on Monday Pandemonium in Oleh community in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State as Tricycle riders popularly known as Keke Riders clashed with the management of the Public Motor Park and land Transportation, Oleh Chapter, as vehicles were burnt down, offices and properties destroyed.

It was alleged that the Delta State Management Committee on public Motor Park and land Transportation, Oleh Chapter, had arrested some members of the Tricycles Riders plying the Oleh/Ughelli Road and this led to the unrest between both parties.

Speaking with Crown FM Correspondent, Fredrick Umuerure in Oleh, the chairman of the Delta State Management Committee on Motor Park and land Transportation, Bello Egove, said there has been a directive from the Transport Commissioner to stop Keke Riders from driving on highways in the state.

On whether there have been meetings between both parties to come to the round table to broker peace in the community, the Secretary to the Union said the Divisional Police Officer of Oleh has  wadded in severally but to no avail.

Efforts to reach some of the Tricycles Riders in Oleh by Crown FM Correspondent did not yield result, but an eyewitness said there has been an unending harassment and molestation of Tricycles Riders that results in daily extortion, and has led up to the resulting protest.
