Delta Court Sentenced Man to Prison for Destroying Government Property

The High Court 5 in Asaba, Delta State, has sentenced one Emmanuel Sunday to two years of imprisonment for stealing and destroying the drainage system attached to the newly constructed Ubu Bridge along the Asaba–Ughelli Expressway.
Presiding over the judgment, Hon. Justice Onome Marshall-Umukoto found Sunday guilty on a two-count charge of vandalism and theft of government property.
Sunday’s sentence is to run concurrently with a one-year term served in prison, while the other one year of community service is to be spent cleaning the court premises in Ogwashi-Ukwu, without the option of a fine.
The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Delta State, Mr. Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, SAN, therefore warned Deltans after the verdict and reiterated the state government’s law to punish any offender found destroying government property.
