Delta Communities block East-West Road over kinsman’s death

The residents of Unenurhie and Uwheru communities in Ughelli North local government of Delta State reportedly marched out in protest against the alleged killing of a fisherman by suspected herdsmen barricading East-West road.

The incident is reported to have happened on the 5th of February, 2024 where one Mr. Ofe Ekevwerho from Uwheru community was said to have died from multiple gunshot wounds, one Mr. Roland was said to have suffered heavy gunshot wounds as well as others with minor injuries receiving treatment in medical facilities in Ughelli.

The residents angered by the incident barricaded the East-West road in protest against the killing demanding justice from the Federal and State governments.

DSP Edafe Bright, the Delta State Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident
