The High Court in Asaba has remanded five police officers involved in the killing of Oghenemene Ogidi at the Ogwashi-Ukwu Correctional Center, pending the court proceedings.
The officers, ASP Usman Nuhu, 42; ASP Onoloko Dauroupamo, 47; ASP Okoh Kelechi, 46; Inspector Goodluck Kingsley, 42; and Inspector Omonigho Ahweyevu, 41, were brought before the Asaba High Court 5 but the case was adjourned to June 15th following a request for legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The elder brother of the rising musician, Victory Ogidi, however, faulted the police for not keeping the family informed, as they had to rely on social media for updates. He pleaded with the State Attorney General of the Justice Ministry and the NFP to ensure transparency and regular updates for the family.
Furthermore, social activist Harrison Gwamnishu commended the arraignment of the officers but condemned the lack of communication between the Force and the affected Family, even as journalists were barred from covering the proceedings.
