A fresh controversial leadership tussle is brewing in Okere Urhobo Kingdom, as the the Okpako-Orere, Apostle Isaac M. Eraivor, and Heads of the three Ruling Houses of kingdom comprising Idama, Sohworuwe and Owhotemu including the Traditional Council Members, have rejected the purported election and crowning of Mr Morrison Ochuko Eyekpimi as the Oroseun of Okere Urhobo.

In a Press Release by apostle Eraivor, the Okpako-Orere and Head of the Three Ruling Houses made available to newsmen in Warri, the leaders claimed the process that brought in the new Oroseun was a slap and taboo to the tradition of the kingdom.

They alleged the Heads of the three ruling houses were not consulted, adding that the crowning process took place around 5am, when the people were still asleep.

They also reiterated it is the duty of the Okpako-Orere to crown an Oroseun, not the Otota, who they said assumed himself as a Regent without approval from the Delta State government, stressing there is already a suit pending in the state High Court Asaba, as to who runs the affairs of the Kingdom, after the demise of an Oroseun.

While urging the people to remain calm, The Okpako-Orere assured that at the end of the ongoing litigation process, a formal date will be announced for the selection and installation of the Oroseun, even as efforts to speak with the crowned Oroseun proved abortive.
