Former Senator Ben Murray Bruce who represented Bayelsa East Senatorial District from 2015-2019 has said on Twitter that the days of sneaking into the Presidential Villa at night by fraudulent businessmen are over.

Bruce said so on Wednesday after President Bola Tinubu floated the naira and permitted commercial banks to trade at market-determined prices.

The ‘Common Sense Advocate’ said it is a close to business for fraudulent businessmen and their shady deals.

He wrote on his verified Twitter handle, “President Bola Tinubu is the first President of Nigeria with a Financial background. Let me tell our 419 businessmen some hard truths. Your days of going to the villa at night to get import duty exemptions, tax waivers, fraudulent judgement claims, and bogus business deals are over. Focus on legitimate business deals. Tinubu will not pick a winner like past Presidents. This time you will have to earn your position in the Nigerian Economy.”

It will be recalled that the CBN permitted commercial banks to freely trade foreign exchange at any rate on the forex window in line with his promise to unify the exchange rate.
