Bandits Use Network Providers From Other Countries On Social Media — Daniel Bwala

Insecurity keeps increasing, leaving Nigerians scared about how to escape. Bandits are flaunting demands for ransom in Naira from victims on social media platforms like TikTok. The Federal Government has provided insight into this plight.
Speaking on a radio program, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, stated that it is not easy for security agencies to track these bandits because they use network providers from other countries.
“There is a regulatory body in Nigeria that has the database of Nigerians and their phone numbers. There is also a body that deals with internet service provision, which can trace your location through the IP address if you are using an internet service covered within the sphere of Nigeria it can be trace through the IP address where you are. If you are using Starlink, we cannot trace it because Starlink is not registered in Nigeria; it is in space. That is the problem they have in Ukraine and Russia. These terrorists most of the time are using cellular services from neighboring countries and not from Nigeria, so it becomes tricky,” Bwala responded to the question.
These words keep citizens wondering how fast security can track and arrest anyone venting on social media but is unable to track killer bandits and terrorists.
