ASP arrested for collecting bribe from NYSC member

For collecting N50,000 from a National Youth Corps Member in Lagos State, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, Eyitere Joseph, has been arrested.

A video with the caption ‘Police Officer extorts NYSC corp member of N50,000 at Lagos State’ was posted on Twitter, where an officer was holding a white envelope suspected to contain the alleged money.

Reacting to the crime on Wednesday evening via Twitter, the acting Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the officer had been apprehended.

Adejobi, who condemned the act, said that Joseph was attached to the Meiran Police Station in Lagos and also attached Joseph’s picture.

He said ASP Eyitere has been arrested and will face disciplinary actions.
