Over 31 persons have been rescued from their assailants after the Easter Sunday attack in a Catholic and Evangelical church in Ariko Village, Kaduna State.
The incident in Ariko Village, located 100 kilometers from Abuja, took place despite the police chief ordering a “massive security deployment,” including at places of worship during Easter. The chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria for Kaduna State, Caleb Maaji, said seven people were killed, with several others abducted; however, the military stated that only five victims were found dead at the scene.
Soldiers, in a statement, revealed that a fierce battle forced the bandits to flee, leaving the hostages and the bodies of the deceased victims behind.
