The voices of Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) are on the mountain top crying that President Williams Akporeha and General Secretary Afolabi Olawale resign from the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas (NUPENG) or they would exit the union.

This was contained in a statement by a formal official of PTD from Ibadan depot, Gbenga Olawale, that their members would begin a nationwide protest to press home their demand.

The statement directed PTD members across the country to move with leaves in front of their trucks to serve as a warning to NUPENG and police against interference and incessant harassment of their leaders.

Olawale claimed Williams is not a member of NUPENG but was instead drafted into petrol station workers of NUPENG (PSW) to enable him to contest election as NUPENG president which was a departure from the NUPENG constitution.

He alleged that the union could not be led by someone who was neither a pump attendant nor a worker at the time he was verified as president.

The statement said Williams was using men to collect revenue which was never used for the union development or that of tanker drivers.

Olawale further called for a fresh election and that members of PTD have decided to stand with Lucky Osusan as the new President of NUPENG and Dayyabu Garga, as General Secretary.

He said their decision to support Osusan was because he and Garga have sacrificed for the benefit of the workers from all kinds of extortions.
