Nigerian university students stand a risk of staying at home for another academic session over lingering issues between the tertiary governing board and the Federal Government.
On Wednesday, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, gave a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to meet up with the 2009 agreement and that of 2021 or risk going for another strike.
ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke, speaking on behalf of the Union, laments how salaries of members are being held and that there is no commitment on the part of the government towards public Universities, which is not encouraging to the system.
In line with the grievances accumulated by the Union, ASUU added a 14-day grace to the earlier 21-day ultimatum, which will commence September 23, 2024, for the Federal government to have time and resolve all pending issues facing public institutions.
