Anambra Election: Army Speaks On Malpractice Video
Post created on 12:51 pm

A disturbing video on the internet, which allegedly shows malpractice being embraced by soldiers during the Anambra governorship election on Saturday, has been debunked by the Nigerian Army.
The video depicted some military officers involved in malpractice at Ukwu Oji Umuebele, Awka, whereas their aim in the ward was to rescue INEC and NYSC officials who were held hostage by political thugs during the election.
The public clarification was made by the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Ayeni.
He stated that following a distress call on November 8, after the disappearance of the polling unit collation officer, the INEC and NYSC staff were held hostage. Upon arrival in a tense atmosphere, the hostages were safely taken to the INEC office to enable collation.
The Army urged the public to disregard the false narrative being spread, as the security of the people is the first priority.
