Afe Babalola Withdraws Defamation Suit Against Dele Farotimi

Weeks after Afe Babalola sued lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi for criminal defamation in connection with a book publication at the Ado Ekiti Magistrate Court, the prosecutor is ready for a withdrawal.

The elder statesman made a U-turn on his decision following the visit of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Sunday night, alongside other Yoruba dignitaries, to plead with Babalola.

At his residence, receiving the traditional rulers, Babalola revealed that he had received several letters of plea from past presidents and other high-ranking members of society; therefore, he had no choice but to succumb.

Noting that Farotimi spending his days in jail is no gain to him, he will direct his lawyers to withdraw the case.
