20 Kidnapped NYSC Members Regain Freedom in Imo State

Twenty prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members kidnapped by armed bandits in Imo State have regained their freedom following a joint security operation.

The corps members were rescued seven days after being abducted along the Owerri-Onitsha Road at Umunoha, Imo State, while traveling from Oyo State to their orientation camp in Abia State.

Confirming the development in a statement on Wednesday, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, stated that the victims are currently undergoing medical evaluation and receiving necessary care following their release.

The rescue was carried out at approximately 4:28 p.m. on Wednesday at Amakohia Ubi Village in Imo State through a coordinated search-and-rescue mission involving the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and the Department of State Services (DSS).

Security agencies have continued operational tracking in the area to locate and arrest the perpetrators responsible for the abduction.
