The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has clarified that candidates whose names appeared on its recently published recruitment list are not automatically guaranteed employment, as final screening procedures remain ongoing before successful applicants are admitted for training.

The clarification follows complaints by numerous candidates who completed the Computer-Based Test, physical evaluations, and initial screening, and accepted offer letters via the official portal, but have yet to receive training invitations for the session scheduled to commence on Friday.

More than 500 affected applicants reportedly expressed concern over their employment status after training invitations stopped on Monday, with several stating they had already resigned from previous jobs and incurred expenses assuming their appointments were finalized.

Speaking on the matter, the National Public Relations Officer of the Service, Deputy Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, stated that the publication of a candidate’s name does not constitute a final appointment into the service. He emphasized that candidates must clear all stages of physical verification and background checks before gaining admission into the training college and receiving formal commissioning.
