Bandits Storm Borno, Kill Teacher, Kidnap NECO Students

An unspecified number of students writing the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the National Examination Council have been abducted by armed bandits who stormed the Government Day Secondary School in Lassa town, Askira/Uba LGA, Borno State, on Monday, leaving one teacher dead.

Borno State Police Command Spokesperson Nahum Daso has confirmed the incident, acknowledging that several students are missing.

According to reports from residents, the military troops stationed in the area had just left on a patrol to Uba, 16 kilometers away from the school, when the bandits attacked.

A resident disclosed, “The soldiers were not around when the terrorists invaded. They came in large numbers, firing sporadically and causing panic everywhere.

“They took away students writing NECO and their teachers.”
