The Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday nullified the nomination of Governor Hope Uzodinma as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

Delivering judgment in the suit, Justice Obiora Egwuatu held that evidence presented before the court demonstrated that Governor Uzodinma did not win the primary election conducted by the APC on May 18, which was officially monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The court ruled that former governor Senator Rochas Okorocha secured the highest number of valid votes cast during the monitored primary exercise and was therefore the rightful nominee of the party.

Consequently, Justice Egwuatu ordered INEC to immediately recognize Senator Okorocha as the authentic APC candidate for the Imo West Senatorial poll and publish his name accordingly on the commission’s official candidate list.
