A prison escapee from Oko Correctional Center during the #EndSARS protest in 2020, Michael Ezenwani, has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command in Agbor.
Ezenwani was arrested on October 24 following a distress call to the DPO of Agbor that the suspect was trying to sell a phone which he claimed he brought from Libya. Later that day, a caller reported that the phone belonged to her sister, Christabel Egedefe.
In a press statement on Wednesday, police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe said the DPO and his team proceeded to the house of the said Christabel and discovered her dead in her apartment.
That was when the suspect confessed to the murder of Christabel Egedefe, 26, and lied that the father of the deceased had asked him to do it.
However, with further interrogation, Ezenwani changed his statement, confirming that he was only trying to indict the father of the victim, as he had gone for a robbery operation at the victim’s house on the evening of October 23, 2025, and murdered her when she refused to let go of her motorcycle keys. He also made away with her mobile phones.
Through the investigation, Ezenwani was discovered to be a serial killer and has since been remanded in police custody.
