Woman Charged in Court for Defaming Her Husband

The Nigerian police, Enugu Command, have arrested one Chisom Okonkwo, a 29-year-old woman with two daughters, for defaming her husband, Ozioma Okonkwo.

Chisom, in August 2023, following a disagreement between the couple, raised an alarm that her daughters, aged 2 and 5, were defiled by their father, Mr. Ozioma. A false report was later presented to the Enugu police detective by the mother of the girls on October 27, 2025, which is the reason for Chisom being charged in court for defamation of character.

According to police detectives, all medical examinations conducted on the children indicate that they have not been violated, leading to the arrest of Mrs. Chisom for making such malicious allegations to destroy her husband’s image.

The case has been scheduled for a hearing at a magistrate’s court in Enugu, where Mrs. Okonkwo is expected to answer to the charges, while the children are currently with social welfare officers.
