Natasha vs. Godswill: Exercise Caution and Save the National Assembly, CAN

Post created on 3:13 pm

‎The ongoing national dispute in the National Assembly between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has prompted the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to call for caution regarding the sexual harassment allegations leveled against the Senate President.

‎CAN chairman for Northern States, Rev. Joseph Hayab, stated on Tuesday in Kaduna that the situation is very shameful, but the importance of peace should not be overlooked in handling the allegations against Akpabio.

‎The Rev. pointed out that the call for Akpabio’s resignation is unnecessary, as elders and respected figures in the nation should delve into the issue to uphold the integrity of the National Assembly, and no concrete evidence has been established.

‎However, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions has been restrained by a Federal High Court in Abuja from conducting a disciplinary proceeding against Natasha.

‎The order was given by Justice Obiora Egwuatu on Tuesday, following the application by Natasha’s lawyers.
