Ultimatum given to NECONDE, NEPL – Communities

The people of Kantu community and Odidi Community both of Warri South-West Local Government Area, have issued a seven(7) day ultimatum to management staff of NEPL and NECONDE ENERGY Limited, to implement the Petroleum Industry Act as well as process payment of the 3 percent of 2022 Operating Expenses, as stipulated by the PIA with immediate effect.
The Chairman of Kantu/OML 42 Communities Forum, Windfree Atemu-baghan and Chairman of Odidi Federated Communities, Mr Prince Okrikpa who handed down the ultimatum, when they led a peaceful protest to the company’s premises. They observed that all Community-based contracts were being awarded to top management staff of NEPL and NECONDE ENERGY Limited using their cronies.
While lamenting the impact of their activities on the environment and the people’s means of livelihood, they appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene by compelling the Management of NEPL/NECONDE to urgently address their grievances to avoid operational disturbances.
Responding a representative of the company, pledged to relay the message to appropriate authorities.
