Super Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum has resigned.
Waldrum was appointed Head Coach of the Nigerian senior female team in October.
The 67-year-old American in a letter dated 12 September revealed his resignation was a result of his wife’s health issues.
“It’s been a very difficult few weeks following the Olympics, with my wife’s health issues, and the worries that obviously come with that. After much thought and consideration.
”I am hereby resigning my position as Head Coach of the Super Falcons. This will allow the NFF ample time to find the next manager to take over this incredible squad.” The letter reads.
Randy Waldrum as head coach guided the team to the semi-finals of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
He also led the team to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup where they captivated fans before being narrowly eliminated by England on penalties in the round of 16.
He also led the team to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games, breaking their 16 years jinx of not playing at the quadrennial event.”
