With lawmakers considering a separate State Police Bill, the House of Representatives has withdrawn its proposed constitutional amendment seeking the establishment of state police in the country.

This move was made on Tuesday during a plenary as the House passed the Executive-sponsored bill through its first and second readings and referred it to the House Committee on Constitutional Review for further legislative work.

With the proposal on hold, the Executive bill is now advancing in the House, and lawmakers are expected to examine key provisions of the proposal during the committee stage.
