Post created on 12:50 pm

The new strict bill to penalize same-sex acts in Senegal with a 10-year jail term has been signed into law by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, following his campaign promise.

The new law states that any promoter of homosexuality through financing, public appearance, or any linking individual or organization found guilty will be jailed for three to seven years.

In fulfillment of the campaign promise of President Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, the UN rights chief Volker Türk has described the anti-LGBT law as worrying and against human rights.
