Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio has called on the National Orientation Agency to make immediate changes to the lines of the reintroduced National Anthem as the one the agency is circulating is different from what was approved by the Senate.

The Senators at their plenary had adjourned sitting to July 2 following various deliberations and two hours of executive sessions.

To be sure of the lyrics and lines, at the end of the plenary, Akpabio asked all senators to recite the National Anthem while he was engrossed in cross-checking the words.

The Senate President at the end of the recitation, told the lawmakers to discard the one presented by NOA and gave the right words as instead of Nigerians all and proud to say, it is Nigerians all are proud to say.

Also, the part of ‘though’ tribes and tongues may differ, is correct rather than ‘those’ tribe and tongues by NOA.

He also made corrections on ‘Nigeria shall be blessed’, instead of Nigeria ‘may’ be blessed, saying it’s a compulsion prayer urging Nigerians that the country must be blessed.
