Security, Protocol Steal An Undisclosed Amount Of US Dollar in Nasarawa Deputy Gov Office

The Office of the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State said an undisclosed amount of US dollars had been stolen by some staff members.

Reports have it that the Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, has issued an ultimatum for the return of the alleged stolen funds.

A close aide to Agbadu said the money stolen is over N20 million.

According to the source, two security aides and a protocol officer in the deputy’s office allegedly conspired together to steal the money before the Christmas break.

The close aide, who did not wish to be named because he was not authorized to speak on the matter, stated that the trio, whose names are being withheld, allegedly stole the money and distributed it among themselves.

He said the security aides received the major share, and used their share to purchase a car and motorcycle, while the protocol officer used his share to buy a house at N3.5 million.

The alleged stolen funds, reported to be in foreign currency, were said to belong to foreign investors interested in Lithium mining in Nasarawa State

The was said to have been left in a bag I. The deputy governor’s office after a meeting with three mining companies involved in a site dispute in Nasarawa LGA.

Adding further, the source said he believes the reason the money was left at the deputy’s office was just to set him up.

However, investigations have begun and the suspects have confessed to how the money was shared among them.
