Rwanda’s President Kagame Retirement 924 Military Officials

The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, who doubles as the Commander-in-Chief of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), retired 95 Army Generals on Wednesday and 930 junior soldiers.

The announcement and changes came amid a recent military coup in Gabon where President Ali Bongo was dethroned by the military.

Top on the list of retirees is General James Kabarebe, the country’s former Minister of Defence and Chief of Defense Staff.

Those affected were disclosed in a statement published on the Rwanda Defense Force’s official website on Wednesday.

Reports have it that the coup which took place on Tuesday night shocked the world and forced many nations, including President Bola Tinubu, the United Nations and the African Union, to condemn the actions of the military.
